I took the coconut ice cream out of the freezer and began to scoop it into a bowl. It looked so much like snow, how it pulled apart with every pass of the spoon. My mind drifted back to so many childhood memories and made me excited for the upcoming winter season.

Moonlit winter nights, stacking firewood in the freshly falling snow.

I know winter has its downsides, but it has it’s upsides too. My family got snow a few days ago. Some friends did too. It kinda just skipped over our place I suppose. Everyone online was complaining about it, and, I have to admit, I was a little jealous.

I made some raspberry sauce to go over the ice cream. (I wanted strawberry, but I didn’t have any.) The red and white then made me think of Christmas. I’m excited to start decorating this year.

It’s so peaceful. Warm and comforting. In some strange way, the harshness of winter feels safe. When the snow is swirling down around me that’s when I can get lost in another world. One that is very much my own, yet very real. I can reach out and touch it. I can feel it around me.
